Frankley; state not known
A plumber working on a house in Frankley was trapped on Thursday by an electric toliet, whilst trying to repair it.

Paul Sanders was fixing a disabled toliet in Frankley on Thursday at around 1015 BST when his leg flipped a switch causing his neck to become wedged in a motorised section of the device. Northfield fire station officer, Martyn Price said Mr Sanders was "lucky" as his head could have been crushed. "He was just leaning over through the frame, cutting a pipe at the back of the toliet when his leg accidentally touched the up switch," he told the BBC's News Online service.

"It just ascended and trapped him around the neck. "

Mr Sanders was taken to Selly Oak hospital by ambulance, with a suspected broken neck.

"He was in a state of shock and could hardly breath as he was an asthmatic as well; he was very, very pleased to see us." Martyn added "Although this was a freak accident, anyone working with electrical equipment should isolate it first"What gets me is that it could've crushed his head, just how powerful a toliet does one need?

Wichita Falls, TX.
Last fall, a urinator fell off the wall at Alamo Elementary School.
When a crew arrived to replace it, they found the wood behind the tile walls and under the floors so penetrated by decades of urine that hanging another one was impossible. The entire bathroom needed to be gutted.

Unknown college in Iowa
No urinators in the men's bathroom, urinators that spew sewage in the women's bathroom, low water pressure, problems with cable and Ethernet connections – these are all complaints that residents in Jewett Residence Hall have had over the past few months.

Aside from the broken urinators, Nunn also had a toliet come off the wall in one of his bathrooms. The toliet came off the wall three or four weeks ago and sat, disconnected from the wall, for a week before it was repaired.

Apparently, if you flick on the bathroom light, throw water on the toliet, or flush the toliet after midnight, it will unscrew its floor bolts and chase you around the house with a fire axe and a sharpened plunger handle, fully intent on ripping your bunghole off.
This, my toliet-fearing friends, is the GREMLIN of all toliets.

Personally, I'd like to keep my old water-wasting toliet, thank you. Those new ones take two or three flushes before it all goes down, so you end up using the same amount of water anyway - except you have to babysit the damn thing and wait for the tank to refill before you can give it another try, and maybe another after that.

A 24 year old man suffered minor bruises and abrasions to his leg and right foot when the urinator he was using fell off the wall and shattered all over the floor in front of him. Apparently, he had tried to steady himself, grabbed the top of the urinator, and the entire fixture ripped out of the wall at that moment.
The victim was also doused with a blast of high-pressure water when the falling urinator pulled the water inlet pipe out of the wall.

Seattle, WA.
A vehicle carrying several toliet bowls & toliet tanks to a reclamation project struck a metal garbage can that had rolled into his lane of travel; causing him to briefly lose control of his vehicle. One of the toliets was thrown overboard and shattered into a large number of pieces in the opposite lane before the man regained control.

No charges were filed, and the man left after picking up most of the remains of his toliet.

A class action suit against Crane in British Columbia has been settled in favour of homeowners.

Roger Griffin of Vancouver was part of that class-action suit. In 1996, the Crane toliet tank his home broke while he was away for the weekend. The flood damage amounted to $25,000.

A woman recently fell off a broken toliet, causing lacerations that required stitches.
"The heavy woman was sitting on the toliet bowl and the bolts holding it actually broke when she leaned forward, and she fell to the floor, taking the toliet down with her. "

The City of Seattle has started a program that pays people $40 to have their old 5 gallon toliets destroyed while they watch. The toliets are brought in by city residents, lined up in front of a dumpster, and then tossed in by their human toliet destructor - a big burly guy who smells like old piss from manhandling toliets all day.

When the dying toliets fly into the dumpster, they cry out one last time with a very loud, prolonged "shattering" sound that was so shrill and foul, the TV station had to mute the reporter's microphone while he was doing his remote.

This unusual item was found at a flea market this afternoon, in the parking lot of a drycleaners just east of Seattle.

Believe it or not, this is a computer mousepad, explaining how a computer works by comparing it to a toliet bowl.

For the third year in a row, portable toliet bowls exploded in Myrtle Edwards Park this 4th of July. The popped potties were likely victims of illegal fireworks such as M1500's, M1000's, and possibly, Whistling Petes crimped with hose clamps - this frequently causes the normally innocuous, whistling firework to explode with much force. Damage to the portable cans is expected to be severe - more than just a urinator blown off a wall or a door with a hole blasted in it. City workers probably won't know the true extent of things until daylight.

The booming biffies could be heard by city residents 20 blocks or more away.

A 49 year old man was found dead on a toliet bowl at the Lakewood Mall several days ago, having been shot and stabbed to death by a 15 year old boy intent on robbing the man of his wallet.

A traffic jam on Highway 202 this afternoon was apparently caused by a defective toliet truck; the type that uses vacuum suction to empty porta potties. The hose fell off the truck's toliet tank, snapping off a valve and spilling some of the contents on the roadway.
Nobody likes to run over poo poo.

A portable toliet was destroyed on the Muckleshoot Indian reservation by an M-1500 yesterday afternoon.
There were no injuries reported, but an Indian operated fireworks booth was confiscated, and its contents destroyed after the same kind of fireworks were found being sold at it.

A woman fell off the pay toliet at a Chevron on Halloween night, possibly breaking her leg.

FRANKFURT ON ODER, Germany (Reuters)
German prosecutors said on Friday they were investigating a 22-year-old woman on suspicion she killed her newborn baby amid media reports the infant had been flushed down a toliet.
Police searched her room at a youth home but were unable to find the infant. They then examined the sewage system at the home and found the corpse of the infant, which was estimated to have been born two months prematurely, caught in a drainpipe.

CAPE TOWN (Reuters)
A South African invention soon to go on sale breaks down a barrier between the sexes by enabling women to urinate standing up.
The "Eezeewee," a reusable device with a shaped plastic cup and a length of pipe, has taken six years to develop and is already patented in 106 countries. It will be in shops around the world by the end of the year.

China has flushed Britain's claims to have invented the water closet down the john with the discovery of a 2,000-year-old toliet complete with running water, a stone seat and a comfortable armrest.
Archaeologists found the antique toliet bowl in the tomb of a king of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC to 24 AD), who believed his soul would need to enjoy human life after death, the official Xinhua news agency said on Wednesday.

Officials in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's tourist mecca, have resorted to strawberry perfume to tame legions of hard partying urinators who they say are turning the beach city into a public toliet.

"We're going to spray it in Rio's 850 squares and instead of piss there will be strawberries in the air," said Vicente Cantini, president of Rio's Parks and Gardens Foundation.

Germany's reputation for precision has taken a knock judging by a ban on urinating while standing slapped on tenants in an east German apartment block, the daily Bild reports.

Landlords, complaining that misdirected urine is causing their radiators to rust, have ordered male tenants to answer the call of nature off their feet.

A judge ordered one man to remove his rooftop Christmas display not because of what it represented, but for safety reasons.
The Pennsylvania man had Santa Claus in his sleigh pulled not by eight tiny reindeer, but by ten shiny white toliet bowls! The toliets were complete with lights and antlers. The man put them on the roof to protest the city's decision to build a parking lot next to his property.
Although the judge ordered him to take the toliets off the roof, his Honor said it was fine for the man to line them up on his front lawn.

Nashville, TN
A 34-year-old woman was hospitalized with burns in Nashville, Tennessee in May after flushing a toliet at Nashville Arena; the toliet had caught on fire after her use, possibly due to fireworks in the building being used by the World Wrestling Federation.

St. Paul, MN
A 29-year-old man was hospitalized in St. Paul, Minnesota in June when his bathroom exploded, probably because his burning incense ignited the gasoline he was using to clean his hands.

Montabaur, Germany
A 32-year-old camper was killed when a campsite toliet exploded near Montabaur, Germany in April, probably caused by leaking gas from a septic tank.

San Juan Capistrano
Some people will go to any lengths to make money.
In San Juan Capistrano, the annual Flush Off occured today, in which contestants stand in front of a microphone and try to give their best imitation of the sound of a toliet flushing.
The winner receives a toliet-shaped trophy and $100 cash. The Flush Off is sponsored by a local plumbing company, in honor of Sir Thomas Crapper; widely thought to be the father of the flush toliet.

Seattle WA.
Again this year, a number of Sani-Kans were damaged or destroyed by fireworks over the Fourth Of July holiday weekend. There is no word of any arrests, but the kinds of fireworks used included large bottle rockets, seal bombs, large Roman candles, and M-1000's.
One toliet was apparently damaged when several Whistling Petes, a type of relatively safe firework designed primarly for noise; were crimped with hose clamps (which causes them to forcefully explode) and then taped to the urinator and to the top & front of the toliet's waste tank.
Other Sani-Kans simply had doors, sinks & urinators blown off and were easily repairable.

Tacoma WA.
A popular swimming area was closed for approximately one week after the Port-O-Let company emptied dozens of its portable toliets into Commencement Bay following the Bite Of Tacoma event earlier last month.
It is expected that the Port-O-Let company will face stiff fines for this incident.

Seattle WA.
A dead man was found on a toliet seat of the downtown McDonalds that streams country music out to the corner of Third and Pine St. As the music played, police investigated the crime scene and found a syringe, the bottom half of a burnt pop can, and a fresh needle mark on the man's arm. No further action was taken. No further action was needed.
It is not known whether or not the man left the toliet unflushed prior to being discovered.

A dead woman was found slumped on a toliet seat in the public restroom on the lower level of the Pike Place Market. The victim's last known address was the Pierce County Jail.
The victim was bagged up & hauled away, and the restroom was reopened.

Seattle's newest landmark, the Mariners Safeco Field, shares its real estate with questionable neighbors - including Bemis Industries, the world's largest toliet seat factory.

638 toliets & urinators were flushed simultaneously at Seattle's new Safeco Field this evening, in an all-or-nothing test of the new Mariners baseball stadium's plumbing system. Family & friends of the workers who built it took part in the Safeco Superflush, and all reports indicate everything went down OK.
Safeco Field opens for the first time on July 15th; with the Seattle Mariners playing against the San Diego Padres and it is expected that all 638 toliets will be quickly discovered & used by the sellout crowd.

CONGRESS has considered many great issues: war, poverty, education, civil rights, taxation. Now it's looking at the lowly toliet.
Thirty-four members of Congress have co-signed legislation that would repeal a 1992 law requiring every new residential toliet to use only 1.6 gallons of water per flush. That's less than half what older toliets use.
The flush lobby says 1.6 gallons doesn't do the job. They want government out of the privvy and warn of jack-booted "toliet police" enforcing the $100 penalty on manufacturers for toliets that don't conform.

Several portable Sani-Kans at Myrtle Edwards Park were damaged or destroyed by illegal firecrackers and seal bombs during the 4th Of July holiday. Police don't have any suspects, but they do say that with up to 350,000 people crowded into the park at once, there are bound to be SOME illegal fireworks that manage to get past officers at the park entrances. Some downtown residents reported the blasts could be heard up to 20 blocks away.

Portland, OR.
A Portland man had to replace his toliet after he tried flushing several gallons of hot cooking oil down it. The grease cooled and turned solid, making the toliet unsalvageable. Plumbers are consulting hazardous materials experts on how to dispose of the ruined commode in an environmentally sound manner; as the local garbage transfer station won't accept it.

Spanaway, WA.
A Spanaway home suffered extensive water damage after vandals destroyed sinks, toliets and bathtubs; leaving the water running afterwards.

Seattle, WA.
A truck carrying a load of toliet bowls spilled some of them on the Ship Canal bridge today. Traffic slowed to a crawl as drivers stared at the piles of broken toliets littering the road surface. They were quickly cleaned up and traffic returned to normal within a few hours.

Johannesburg, S. Africa
A 74 year old man bled to death after being cut by the shattered porcelain from a toliet bowl that collapsed under his weight. Police are investigating but foul play is not suspected.

Corvallis, OR.
A Portland woman had complained to the water department after her water bill increased 150% for no apparent reason. Investigators soon discovered there WAS a reason. While the woman was at work during the day, her cat would repeatedly flush the toliet while she was gone. After locking the cat out of the bathroom during the day, the woman's water bill returned to normal.

Toliets, sinks and urinators at the King County Courthouse exploded after a workman accidentally connected a high pressure air compressor to the plumbing system. Men and women in soaked business suits ran out of restrooms after toliet bowls erupted and wall urinators shot water clear across the bathrooms.

St. Joseph, MO (AP)
A man who was videotaped urinating into a company coffeepot last summer has received an appropriately unpleasant sentence.
Milton Ross, 41, pleaded guilty Friday to third-degree assault. Associate Circuit Judge Keith Marquart placed him on two years of probation and ordered him to spend 100 hours cleaning public restrooms.

"Those restrooms are often dirty and filled with graffiti," Marquart told Ross, an electrician. "I want the parks department to put you to work in maintaining those public facilities, if they'll take you." Ross will also spend seven days of shock detention in jail.

A covert camera set up by a co-worker caught Ross pissing in a coffeepot at Wire Rope Corp. of America in St. Joseph in July. "I made a stupid choice," said Ross, who was fired after the incident and moved to Branson but must serve the sentence in St. Joseph.
"Although I did do it, I didn't expect it would be on tape and become a worldwide issue. Now I want to get on with my life," Ross said.

New York, NY.
An Albany, New York woman is suing McDonalds for over $600,000 after she fell off a toliet in one of the restaurants. The woman, a former McDonald's owner herself, was supposedly seated on a toliet in the handicapped stall when the toliet fell on its side, throwing the woman against a wall. She claims injury to her head, side, arm and breast in the incident. It is not clear whether the woman (using the handicapped stall) was disabled or not.

Idaho (unknown city):
An unnamed woman sued the city for damages incurred to her home after a rat surfaced in her toliet bowl. The woman apparently tried to kill the rat with a broom handle, shattering the toliet bowl and causing some $5,000 in water damage to property on the lower floor. She won her suit. The rat is still at large.

Tampa, FL.
A 29 year old man was briefly hospitalized after a public toliet he was using collapsed under him. He suffered only minor bruises and abrasions, and was treated and released. It is not clear why the toliet collapsed in this fashion, but police speculate the bowl was cracked or broken prior to the incident.

Juneau, AK.
Several teenage boys were seen at the city dump salvaging urinators and toliet bowls from the landfill, standing them up, and blowing them to smithereens with rifles and pistols. By the time police arrived, the boys had vanished. No further investigation is expected, since it is not a crime to destroy property that has already been discarded or abandoned, and witnesses reported that the shootings took place away from their homes.

Oakland, CA.
An Oakland man was beaten with part of a toliet bowl and robbed over the weekend. Police won't speculate where the attacker obtained his weapon of choice; but the owner of the tavern both men were drinking at earlier had reportedly replaced a toliet that had been destroyed the previous night; placing the remains of it in an alley dumpster.

Queens, NY.
Three teenagers were arrested Tuesday for possession of an explosive device, after they entered vacant buildings and bombed toliet bowls and sinks with large firecrackers. Neighbors called police after hearing several large explosions, accompanied by "the sound of breaking pottery or china".

Bremerton, WA.
A local woman is under arrest after the remains of her boyfriend were found in her septic tank. Police are not saying whether the body was cut up and flushed down the toliet, or if it was deposited whole directly into the septic tank.

Los Angeles, CA.
A burglary attempt was thwarted when the would-be burglar broke through a residential bathroom window and slipped, falling headfirst against the resident's toliet. The burglar was still semi-conscious on the bathroom floor when the police arrived. He was held at the local hospital for observation and then turned over to the police for arrest.

Loleta, CA.
A 41 year-old man was taken to the fire department after his right hand became stuck inside a toliet bowl. Fire personnel unbolted the toliet and took both man and toliet to a nearby fire station where he was eventually freed with the liberal application of WD-40 spray lubricant. Neither the man nor the water closet suffered injury. It was not revealed why the man had reached into the commode to begin with.

Van Nuys, CA.
A panel truck carrying toliets, sinks and urinators from a building renovation lost control and tipped over in a residential area yesterday. Nobody was injured in the accident, which apparently occurred when the driver swerved to avoid a dog in his lane of travel. The piles of broken china were cleaned up within an hour.

San Francisco, CA.
A woman was briefly hospitalized after slipping and striking her head against a toliet in a public restroom. Rescue personnel discovered several wet adult diapers on the floor and evidence that the toliet had recently overflowed, contributing to the woman's fall.

San Deigo, CA.
Two men were taken into custody after police discovered several pounds of marijuana and heroin hidden inside toliet bowls and toliet tanks they were carrying in their pickup truck. The men were originally stopped for a broken tail light, when the officer thought he smelled something suspicious. A drug sniffing dog confirmed officer's suspicions when it made a beeline right for the toliets and started scratching at the bowls and barking. The marijuana was only loosely wrapped in paper, so the odor became quite noticeable in the hot southern California sunshine.

Houston, TX.
A man went on a rampage at a local video arcade, knocking over a Sinistar machine; then going into both the mens' AND women's rooms and causing extensive damage to both. Roller towels were cut down, sinks and toliets were destroyed, and wastebaskets were stomped on until they were flattened. The man was arrested and held for psychatric observation.

San Deigo, CA.
Five juveniles were taken into custody after going on an extensive vandalism spree over the weekend. The boys, ages 12 through 15, entered vacant homes and destroyed sinks, tubs and toliets; and left the water running in each case. Three of the teens are being held in juvenile detention, and two were released to the custody of their parents.

Los Angeles, CA.
A man in the central area was arrested for negligent discharge of a weapon after shooting his toliet five times with a .38 calibre handgun. He claims that he just got pissed and "had it up to here" after being unable to dislodge a hairbrush his daughter had flushed earlier in the day. The man received a psychological evaluation and was released on personal recognizance. It is not known whether or not the toliet pressed charges.

Butte, MT.
An traffic accident occured when a toliet being transported in an open automobile trunk fell onto the roadway and was struck by a vehicle travelling in the opposite lane. No major injuries were reported, but the wrecked automobile was declared a "total" by the insurance company who investigated the accident. The black Kohler toliet, valued at approximately $390, was also declared a complete loss.
The owner of the toliet was cited for transporting an improperly secured load.

Valdez, AK.
Two children were treated and released at a local clinic after cutting themselves on the shattered porcelain of a toliet bowl they destroyed. The children, ages 5 and 7; admitted they got the idea from a videotaped episode of the MTV cartoon "Beavis and Butthead", in which one of the characters repeatedly strikes the side of a toliet bowl with a hammer in a vain attempt to kill a flying insect.

Schererville, IN.
An intoxicated man angered by a slow-flushing toliet at a restaurant, shot it to pieces with his semiautomatic handgun after a night of St. Patrick's Day reveling.

Eugene, OR.
A Honolulu man is suing the city of Medford after an automatic toliet in the Medford Airport flushed by itself while the man was seated on it, sucking his urine collection bag down and pulling the man's catheter out with it.

A woman has filed for divorce on the grounds that her husband still smokes in the bathroom. Her primary complaint was that she had to keep buying "those little rugs that go around the toliet" because he kept burning holes in them.

South Carolina
Michael Anderson Godwin had spent several years awaiting South Carolina's electric chair on a murder conviction before having his sentence reduced to life in prison. In March 1989, sitting on a metal toliet in his cell and attempting to fix his small TV set, he bit into a wire and was electrocuted.
On Jan. 1, 1997, Laurence Baker, also a convicted murderer once on death row, but later serving a life sentence at the state prison in Pittsburgh, Pa., was electrocuted by his homemade earphones as he watched his small TV while sitting on his metal toliet.

The big story on the Baltimore TV news one night last week, was not the shooting death of a young woman on her way to work at a Head Start center, but rather the flushing of toliets.

The execution style shooting of Shara Gaylord outside St. Francis Xavier church was covered by the local news show, but the story played second fiddle to the testing of a thousand toliets at the new Ravens football stadium.

Renton, WA
RENTON, Wash. (AP) -- A pipe bomb was found Tuesday inside a portable toliet at a city park, police said. The bomb was removed and detonated by the Port of Seattle police bomb squad, said Renton police spokeswoman Penny Bartley. A maintenance worker emptying the portable toliet at Kiwanis Park discovered the bomb inside the toliet's waste container shortly before noon, Bartley said. The Port of Seattle police assisted because Renton does not have a bomb squad, she said. It was not clear how long the bomb had been in the toliet or whether it would have gone off at all due to the moisture and corrosion, she said.

It's a problem that's threatening to turn Oregon into a 97,052 square mile Honey Bucket: roadside urine dumping. Today, to fight the epidemic of plastic jugs of urine being tossed from cars onto the roadside, the Oregon House Transportation Committee endorsed House Bill 3530, which would make improper disposal of human waste punishable by fines of up to $2,500.
The Seattle P-I reports that the bill would target all urine-tossing motorists, but would specify harsher penalties for commercial drivers; in addition to pricey fines, pro truckers found guilty of piss-littering could face license suspension.

NEW YORK, NY (Reuters)
A New York businessman is suing Air France, charging he was hauled partly naked from a jetliner toliet seat by flight crew who suspected he was smoking, his attorney said yesterday.
Computer-company owner Raviv Laor, 27, alleged in his $12 million lawsuit that he was abused and insulted by the crew and humiliated in front of other passengers on the Paris-to-New York flight May 19. Air France officials were not immediately available for comment.
Laor said he was sitting in a locked bathroom on the nonsmoking flight "with his pants and underpants down and in the process of going to the bathroom" when crew members smashed open the door and accused him of smoking after the smoke-detector alarm went off.

A large block of frozen green material that crashed through the roof of the home of Mrs. Esther Kochanowicz in Alden, NY; has been identified as human waste from the toliet of an airplane. The object, which was almost two feet in diameter and weighed more than fifty pounds, tore through Mrs. Kochanowicz's roof, striking her favorite chair. It then shattered into little pieces.
Richard Reinnagel, a scientist at the Calspan Corporation, said the green color of the substance was indicative of a disinfectant used in the toliets of commercial airliners.
