Because this product is not available to the general consumer, the usual review format for other LED and incandescent lights & flashlights will not be used here.

This is a backlight panel that uses fiber-optics and two 5mm round white LEDs to produce its light. It is not affected by and produces no EMI (electromagnetic interference). For the purposes of this web page, each LED was fed just under 10mA, or about half the recommended maximum power.

 SIZE

To use this product, install it behind any transparent or translucent LCD panel, and connect its LEDs to any handy DC source that can provide no less than 3.6 volts at 40 milliamps (that's 20mA per LED, and two LEDs are used in this particular model).

I'm not an optical engineer, and I don't play one on the internet or on TV, so please take these recommendations with plenty of crystalline sodium chloride.

Because this product can use any DC power source that can provide 3.6 volts at 40mA, this section can and will be skipped.

This is a product meant to be installed in something and then not {vulgar term for having had intercourse} with, not a flashlight that can be carried around and abused, so I won't strike it against a steel rod, stomp on it, try to drown it in the toilet, throw it, or otherwise inflict punishments upon it that flashlights may have inflicted upon them. As a result, this part of the page will look considerably more bare than this section of the page about a flashlight.

The fiber-optic LED backlight is designed to be installed behind a clear or translucent LCD display, and is designed to allow you to read that display in conditions too dark to ordinarily read that display.
Did that make any sense, or did I just confuse the heck out of you?

Photograph of the backlight panel illuminated at approximately 50% power.

TEST NOTES:
Sample of the Lumitex backlight was sent by a website fan and received on 06-10-04.
IMPORTANT: This was NOT sent by anybody who works for or once worked for Lumitex.
I have some of their backlight products from the late 1990s to maybe 2000, but I was specifically asked not to put them on this website.

If anybody at Lumitex objects to this product being on this website, just say so and I will remove the page at once.
