The Shrek Ear-Clip Knight Light is a clip-on reading light that produces a yellow-green light (one version anyway), allowing your little ones to think they're Shrek whenever they put the light on and activate it.

The unit appears to be disposable; there are no instructions for changing batteries and no obvious means of accessing the internal parts of the light to change batteries.

The unit with the green earpiece has Shrek on it, the unit with an amber earpiece has Puss In Boots on it, and the unit with the purple earpiece has the Donkey on it.

* Product was free; it was found in a cereal box.

 SIZE

Batteries are included and installed; so the product is ready to use as soon as you rip open the little plastic baggie it comes in.

Slip the rounded end of the green earpiece in the hole provided for it on the body of the light.

Turn the unit on by sliding the slide switch on the product's body forward (toward the LED-end).
Then slip it over your ear, as shown in the photograph below.

To turn it off, slide the switch backward (toward the larger end of the product) until it stops and the light goes off.

The unit can be used on either the left or right ear; depending on which side of the light you insert the earpiece.

Product appears to have been designed to be disposable; so I will not have any additional information for this section of the web page.

The Shrek Ear-Clip Knight Light is reasonably durable - at least to the point where it won't just fall apart or go out during normal use. This product is intended specifically to be used on your ear, not abused or manhandled like a regular flashlight. So I won't try to slam it against a steel rod, smack it against the concrete floor of a patio, or flush it down the can. I did throw it to the floor a few times, and did not damage it in any way I can detect.

One of them emits a yellow-green light, so your little ones can pretend to be Shrek every time they put it on & activate it. Another emits a yellow-amber light, and a third emits red light.

I stated this earlier, but I'll say i again. The color progression is as follows:
Green earpiece = yellow-green light (Shrek is on the side)
Orange earpiece = yellow-amber light (Puss In Boots is on the side)
Purple earpiece = red light (The Donkey is on the side)

I typically do not rate disposable products higher than 4 stars, so even if it were perfect (which it isn't), it would not make it into The Trophy Case on this website.

Beam photograph of the yellow-green one on the test target at 12".
Measures 930mcd on a Meterman LM631 light meter.
This is a wide-angle LED, and wider angles always equal lower mcd values.
This is also why the beam photograph didn't come out very well.

Beam photograph of the yellow-amber one on the test target at 12".
Measures 1,006mcd on a Meterman LM631 light meter.
This is a wide-angle LED, and wider angles always equal lower mcd values.
This is also why the beam photograph didn't come out very well.

Beam photograph of the red one on the test target at 12".
Measures mcd on a Meterman LM631 light meter.
This is a wide-angle LED, and wider angles always equal lower mcd values.
Again, this is also why the beam photograph didn't come out very well.
