This product is not designed to be used as a flashlight, laser, or other lighting product, so the standard review format will not be used and the product will not be assigned a rating. This website is mostly about light-emitting products and test equipment I regularly use, but occasionally, you'll see non-light emitting products on it too if it's something I really like or use frequently.

This is the AC Neilsen Homescan Scanner.
Its purpose is to allow you to scan the UPC codes (bar codes) of whatever you purchase and then (on a weekly basis) transmit that data to AC Neilsen so that they can keep track of what America buys.

It is used to easily scan items after every shopping trip; these accumulate in the device's memory and then you plug it into your computer once a week to "dump" all of the information into it, and subsequently, to the NCPOnline headquarters.

Since very few people have or would even want this device, I'll direct you to NCPOnline for more detailed operating instructions.

TEST NOTES:
Unit was obtained in late-2004 after signing up to be on the Homescan Consumer Panel.

It is not known where the product was manufactured.
A product's country of origin really does matter to some people, which is why I wanted to publish it on this web page.
